Sprite is my absolute unicorn pony. I’ve owned her since she was a just‑backed 3‑year‑old, and she has been the quietest, kindest, least mareish pony you’ll ever meet.

She stands politely when taken out, loads and travels impeccably, and hacks on the buckle alone on busy roads. She’ll happily have a steady canter in open fields and has been to the beach, on holidays, gallops, fun rides and sponsored rides — always with zero drama. Not done a lot in the school as no facilities here so she is a bit green but safe.

No vices. Open to any vetting, and full history available from my vet.

This is an absolutely heartbreaking sale due to having two small children and no time to ride.

Homes will be thoroughly vetted.

Based in Brentwood, Essex.

Tack available at extra cost.

Smartie – The Ultimate First Pony

Smartie is the quietest, kindest and most sensible little pony you could ever wish to meet. She is exceptionally safe, both under saddle and on the ground, making her the perfect first pony both on and off the lead rein.

She will happily walk, trot and canter beautifully on the lead rein for children taking their very first steps into riding. Off the lead rein, she is equally happy carrying riders who are holding the saddle handle while building confidence, as well as those riding independently. She truly has a young body with an old head on her shoulders. She is never spooky, sharp, strong or silly and always takes wonderful care of her riders.

Over the past 2.5 years Smartie has worked in a professional riding school where she has safely taught hundreds of children, from tiny tots aged just two years old through to more established young riders. She has patiently introduced countless children to walk, trot, canter and their very first jumps.

She has three beautifully balanced, steady paces and responds exceptionally well to the voice, allowing beginners who are still holding the saddle handle to be guided confidently without needing rein contact.

Smartie has never bolted, reared, bucked. She is not strong, pulley or forward going, she goes wherever you ask calmly and sensibly, she has more whoa than go, making her a lovely, reassuring ride for someone just starting out or building their confidence. However, when ridden by a more experienced jockey, she will happily step up a gear and become more responsive and forward when asked.

She is an incredibly genuine, sensible mare who adapts beautifully to the ability and confidence of her rider.

She truly is every child’s dream pony, with the most adorable little face that you simply can’t help but fall in love with.

She waits patiently in group lessons for her turn, is equally well behaved in private lessons, and has taken part in our in-house competitions including Lead Rein classes, Handy Pony, Fancy Dress and Pony Club rallies.

She has a lovely snaffle mouth and requires no gadgets.

Smartie will happily be lead around the yard by the tiniest of tots without pulling or being strong, allowing even the youngest children to confidently catch her from the field, groom her, pick out her feet, and care for her safely. she stands quietly to be groomed, bathed and fussed over, she will happily stand in her stable with the door open and not try and come out, will equally stand at a mounting block without move for as long needed, she is super chilled, quiet and easy to handle.

She is a firm favourite during our stable management courses and therapy sessions.

Smartie is exceptional out hacking. She is completely unfazed by heavy, fast-moving traffic and has seen everything from articulated lorries, double-decker buses, tractors and trailers to motorbikes, bicycles, prams, trolleys and dogs — absolutely nothing fazes her.

She hacks confidently both alone and in company, happily leading or following. She is never strong, nappy or silly and is perfectly content to stay at the back of the ride without trying to overtake, race or be silly in any way, she maintains in her pace and place even in a large group hack.

In open spaces she remains calm, relaxed and sensible. If the other horses canter away, Smartie is more than happy to stay behind with her rider, and she will patiently wait if the others return home ahead of her.

Smartie enjoys jumping and will happily pop a small course of coloured or rustic fences, both on and off the lead rein, always giving her rider confidence.

She is excellent to catch, load, travel, shoe / feet paired, and stands perfectly for the dentist, farrier and vet. She loads first time, every time, travels impeccably and is an absolute pleasure to take out and about. Smartie is currently barefoot as she has very strong healthy hooves, she is equally happy to be shoed.

Smartie has recently passed our annual Riding School Licence inspection, carried out by a veterinary surgeon, which is comparable to a Stage 2 vetting.

During the entire time we have owned her, she has never been sick, lame, suffered from colic or required any time off through injury or illness. She is fit, healthy and in excellent condition, with no sarcoids, sweet itch, laminitis, lumps or bumps. Smartie is a substantial build with most definitely I leg in each corner, she has never suffered from laminitis.

She is wonderfully low maintenance and doesn’t need riding every day. She can happily have four weeks off and return to work exactly as she left it, without any fuss or freshness.

She currently works four days a week in our riding school and thoroughly enjoys her job.

We have several horses and ponies available for viewing.

Smartie has a very simple routine and is incredibly easy to keep. She has a basic diet of haylage when stabled and grass when turned out. She currently lives in a mixed herd of 25 horses, is stabled during the day when working and turned out overnight.

Equally, she would be perfectly happy living out full-time or being stabled full-time. She is not clingy and is equally content living or turning out on her own if required.

Smartie is only available because we regularly rotate our riding school horses after around 18 months - two years. We strongly believe these wonderful ponies deserve the opportunity to enjoy a one-to-one family home where they receive individual attention, more variety and plenty of fun adventures. Sold on behalf of a working livery.

They work incredibly hard teaching children and give so much of themselves every single day, so we feel they deserve the very best next chapter.

Whoever is lucky enough to buy Smartie will not just be purchasing a pony — they will be gaining a kind, genuine and utterly trustworthy family member who will give a child years of confidence, fun and unforgettable memories.

After six years with us, our lovely May has been completely outgrown by my super-tall 16-year-old daughter and is looking for a new family to continue her adventures. May is a kind and clever mare who adjusts brilliantly to her rider. She will compete at 70/80 with my daughter one day and the next will give a 5-year-old their first trot off lead rein or will take our elderly neighbour for a relaxed hack.

May has spent five years taking part in regular pony club activities. She’s enjoyed stay-away camps at Bicton and numerous rallies doing show-jumping, cross-country and dressage. She’s also had fun doing western, horse-back archery, and led the musical ride for our pony club (in the dark with fairy lights attached to her!) She has enjoyed doing mounted games and taking part in pony club meets and hound exercises (well behaved both up near the front and at the back).

May has also hacked extensively over Dartmoor and doesn’t bat an eyelid at loose cows, sheep or ponies. She is happy tucking in on narrow lanes to allow the biggest tractors and rattly trailers to pass her. She completely ignores pigs, bicycles, bins and bin lorries, flapping bunting and flags, low-flying helicopters and military planes, builders on scaffolding, etc - hacks over busy A30 bridges and has even braved going past the school playground at lunchtime! Walks on the buckle or canters sensibly in open space, hacks alone or in company, in front or behind. Snaffle mouthed for everything. Thoroughly enjoyed a recent trip to the beach, staying sane despite her companions’ antics!

On the flat, May works consistently in an outline in walk and trot, has mastered basic lateral work, and has done prelim and novice tests (though dressage is not really my daughter’s thing). Showjumping, she excels at difficult lines and easily clears 90 in lessons (competes at 70 to 85). She’s not the most whizzy but is very careful and hates touching a pole. Not afraid of fillers, planks or loudspeakers. With a more experienced rider she goes up a gear and really enjoys it; with a novice she hops very politely over 40s and will trot between jumps.

XC she is confident doing water, ditches, steps/drops, trakehners, etc. She has not competed xc this year due to GCSEs and the hard ground, but went clear in her first pairs hunter trial last Autumn, and is very trainable so could easily pursue this further.

May walks straight onto our trailer and has also travelled happily in a box. She stands patiently to be washed, clipped and pampered for hours. She is barefoot with absolutely stellar feet (glowing refs available from our farrier) and is up to date with teeth, physio, flu, tet, and strangles vaccines. We can provide references for her from many Pony Club instructors. She has no medical history with us and passed a 5-stage vetting when we got her. Currently lives out 24/7 in a mixed herd but stables for camp and shows. Is very polite and gentle on the ground and loves dogs, cats and small children. Just looking for a new special person who will love her as much as we do and isn’t 5’9! We would very much like to keep in touch with how she’s getting on.

Welsh C mare 13,2h looking for new home.

6 year old very sweet pony not marish and has never bitten, reared, bucked. Bought for my 9 year old daughter unfortunately has lost all interest.

She has never put a hoof wrong and has no nastiness at all, although can be a little cheeky and inquisitive. She is lovely to groom, picks up all 4 feet, no problem with the farrier, clipping (can be a little ticklish). Knowledgeable 5star home only.

Used to tractors, quad bikes, dogs, and has sheep and cows on fields next to her. She has been out to large arena hires, hacked out through forests, beach rides, and open fields. She hasn’t done much on roads with us .

Good to load and travels well. She is stabled at night in winter and is turned out with our 15,3 gelding. She was previously in a mixed herd. Could easily live out 24/7.

No health problems, vices etc. up to date with vaccines, farrier, dentist, brand new chunky monkey saddle and this has been professionally fitted through the owner of chunky monkey saddles. She also has a brand new bridle and bit which was recommended by the dentist. She comes with full wardrobe, rugs, head collars, saddle pads etc. She is barefoot.

Everyone comments how pretty Minnie is and would excel in the show ring or be a great pony club pony. Equally would suit a small adult. My eldest daughter and I are 5ft,4 and weigh 9 and a half stone and ride her no problem.

Full passport from Welsh pony club society. Full history known. Looking for mid 4 figures with full tack and wardrobe.

Dream ( Kildromin Dream) has been my granddaughters pony club ride from a five year old until now - she reached her 12th year in June - born 2014.

She is fast - quick to turn and is great out hunting / Hunter trials / team chase and polocrosse - she was a real winner show jumping and has a good BSJ record, but started to put a stop in at SJ competitions- she has still hunted fine and enjoys the cross-country, rustic fences. She’s competed polocrosse regularly, even getting a podium place at pony club championships in 2024. This year she’s mainly hunted and was in the ribbons last weekend at the Hunter trials.

She’s always been exercised regularly in our arena at home -( she’s always been shod on all four ) and we are told by experts recently that she shows real potential as a dressage horse. We feel she would be ideally suited to a hunting family or low level dressage / happy hacker.

She can be a little spooky but nothing dangerous… she does take confidence from her rider and is sensitive. So not a novice ride.

She measured in at 149.5 officially and is probably 15hh now - so a horse not a pony - therefore our aim is for her to go to a petite adult rider with experience- and who can offer a five star forever home for this much loved mare.

She is never sick or sorry and is open to any vetting - she is up to date with worming / injections / teeth etc and comes with her saddle / bridle rugs etc

Do you like life in the slow lane, not in a hurry to get anywhere?

Tybalt is looking for her perfect new home.

She is a very sweet mare; she is still green in the school but is the most genuine, safe, happy hacker you’ll find.

She absolutely loves hacking; she’s amazing in company or without. She doesn’t care about traffic, machinery, livestock, and dogs running around her feet!

She will happily go for a nice gallop, come back to you, and walk on the buckle. She is also very comfortable bareback if you can’t be bothered to tack up!

She is very green in the school and tries hard to please, but this is not her calling.

She would like to meet someone who also enjoys slow hacks to the pub.

Her dream ride is to go for a quiet hack and stop for a cup of tea somewhere, as she is more than happy to stand still patiently.

She has tripped over tiny cross poles in the school and pops a log out hacking; she is definitely not a world-beater when it comes to jumping but happy enough to give it a go.

Attended a busy opening meet with us and was cool as a cucumber, jumped a couple of little fences but was very slow and very safe.

Perhaps with the right rider who can find her "go" switch, she will easily have a go at everything, just don’t expect sparks to fly.

Tybalt is extremely quiet to handle; I let my 7-year-old niece lead her in and out of the field, and she has no problems at all. My non-horsey sister can easily bring her in without any supervision; I even let her ride Tybalt back to the field bareback in a headcollar with no trouble at all. Tybalt genuinely doesn’t care about flapping, wobbly riders, and sudden movements as she’s just so easy!

She is amazing to handle on the ground and stands like a rock to clip and bath. She is good for the farrier and dentist, can be caught easily (comes running to you), and will very happily stand there to be fussed and loved. She is not a problem at all to have on the yard. And would love to have a quiet life where she can be someone’s pet!

  • Easy to do in all ways and a lovely person ridden and on the ground
  • Straightforward active ride going first or last and never gets excited

Tally is a 10-year-old classic middle weight bay mare. She is 14.1hh but rides more like 15hh and definitely a small horse rather than a pony type. She has been with us for the past 5 years and be a brilliant partner for my niece moving up from her first ridden pony.

Unfortunately, we have had a pony return from loan and we just haven’t got the time to keep them all busy. Tally has only been used for hacking and we are hoping to find her a new home where she can enjoy a similar lifestyle.

She would make a brilliant happy hacker for a small adult or mother/daughter share, and we would ideally want her to find a forever home rather than a rider who will outgrow her. She is happy to hack alone or in company but would need a companion at home as she doesn’t like being left alone for prolonged periods. However, she can be left in the field for a few hours without issue.

She currently lives out 24/7 in a mixed herd with a shelter but is also very happy to be in her stable. She is great to shoe, clip and for the dentist and an easy, kind ride. While Tally would be capable of doing pony club/riding club and is nicely schooled out hacking, she has never been worked much in a school or done pony club activities and at 10 years old this would be a change of direction which would not be our preferred home.

Tally is a really special little horse, and we would love to keep in contact and get the odd update on her progress and the new owner would be asked to offer us first refusal to buy her back should circumstances change.

14.2hh, bay, 12 year old, Welsh X Cob, gelding.

Flash is sadly for sale on behalf of his owner.

He excels on the flat. In his previous home he had numerous wins and placings in the Dressage arena. He qualified for, and competed at the PC Dressage regionals 3 times, and also came 2nd in his first BD test. Regularly scores high 60,s/70%.

A smart and naturally active mover, flash is easy to put together on the flat in an outline and creates a lovely, correct picture. Works well laterally with medium paces coming on nicely.

May suit BYDR home.

Flash hacks alone or in company. He is good in traffic and not fazed by farm machinery, large vehicles or motorbikes.

His current owner has done lots of New Forest hacking with him, which he absolutely loves.

He loads and travels well in a lorry or trailer and is polite to handle and good to clip.

In his previous home, he led an active PC life participating in all activities.

Been hunting with VWH on multiple occasions, proving himself to be mannerly at the meet and good with hounds.

Flash is not a confident show jumper and doesn't enjoy this discipline, so not suited to a home wanting to do lots of this.

Quiet, affectionate nature.

Flash takes his confidence from his rider, so is best suited to a reasonably experienced, confident rider, and an active home that wants to do lots of hacking, Dressage, hunting, clinics and shows.

Your next years 133cm HOYS winner?

This is a very hard decision as I have owned chey since a 3 year old bought straight from stud and he means the world to me however I don’t have the time to have more than one horse out competing anymore.

Chey is a lovely cheeky character who loves his jumping. We have done so many lessons/clinics/course hires over the years and he’s seen so much and isn’t phased by anything, however he is relatively low mileage only attending a handful of shows each season as I’ve never had the time to fully commit.

This year we focused on qualifying for stars and doing some training stakes and a good week at Equifest. He’s achieved some fab and easy clears within the 75/85cm classes with any poles usually down to rider error.

He has also been ridden by a friends 9 year old daughter this season where they have produced some lovely clear rounds however can be cheeky with a little one but nothing a competent jockey can’t deal with as she has shown.

He has been placed over the years in the flat HOYs qualifiers and has fabulous conformation but his heart is with jumping.

Perfect to shoe/clip/teeth etc. Never sick nor sorry. Bombproof to hack out and has had complete beginners on him to hack and looked after them. Good to handle and is an all round awesome lad!

I have absolutely no doubts he would get to HOYs/RIHS in the 133cm M&m whp with the right jockey on him and he is also eligible for the Nursery stakes and Novice classes. He would also make a fabulous little eventer although this is not my area of expertise.

He is not available until after STARS

Shadow – 14.2hh, 9-Year-Old Connemara Gelding

A lovely all-rounder and ideal mother/daughter share!

Shadow is a genuine, much-loved pony who would make an ideal first pony for someone moving on from the riding school or a fantastic mother/daughter share.

He has enjoyed a varied lifestyle, attending showjumping competitions, Pony Club rallies and cross-country schooling. He is well-behaved at shows, takes everything in his stride and isn’t fazed by fillers or fences. He is a kind, confidence-giving pony who will always try his best to help his rider out.

Shadow is also lovely to hack and sensible in all types of traffic, making him a pleasure to enjoy both in and out of the arena.

He good to catch and turn out, happy living alone or with other horse, good to shoe and travel etc

Shadow enjoys having a varied lifestyle and thrives when he has a purpose outside of the school. He is not a pony who enjoys being schooled every day at home and can become a little sour and lazy if his routine becomes repetitive. He would therefore suit a home looking to enjoy hacking, Pony Club activities, competitions and a variety of adventures together.

This is a truly sad sale of a much-loved pony, as his current riders have unfortunately outgrown him. We are looking for a special next home where Shadow will be loved and enjoyed as much as he is now.

A lovely opportunity to find a genuine all-rounder to have fun with and enjoy making memories together

A very kind beautiful looking traditional girl that is extremely easy to handle, with great conformation and straight movement.

A lovely safe hack , you can go off on your own or in company, in front, middle or behind . Good with traffic and all farm machinery. Ridden by riders up to 5 ft 9 as takes up the leg .

A lovely smart girl that doesn’t care if she’s left alone in the stable while the others leave her . Good through water and even on top of a hill in the wind ! A safe ride not sharp or too forward . She has done arena hires and also been out to unaffiliated dressge test. Does not bother about much at all , new places etc. Has shown successfully inhand as a youngster. She really is the easiest pony to deal with and a real friend , comes to call and just stands to have anything done to her . She is a special one and must only go to a long term kind home who will appreciate her. Back, teeth and Vaccines up to date no health issues.

Only for sale due to lack of time. Serious calls only .

12.2hh Two For Joy 7yo (magpie)

Magpie is a perfect little coblet ready for a confident rider to take out and have some fun.

She is confident and good to hack, jump (poles & solid fences) and to school. She is a little green due to only being rode away this year but safe and sound. She is a forward pony but not strong or silly. Will hack alone or in company front or back, happy with any and all traffic , doesn’t get silly in open fields and bold to jump anything you point her at.

We have taken her to an arena hire and to the beach , she’s no bother to load and travel. Sees a lot of machinery , cows, sheep etc at the yard and is not phased by any of it. She is good for the farrier and is barefoot. Unfortunately would not be suitable for a complete novice but anyone who knows the basics and is confident would be safe and looked after.

She is passported and has her first and second vaccinations. Was blood tested moving onto our yard for strangles and all came back okay.

Based North East , Hartlepool area.

Open to any viewings we have an indoor and outdoor.

Low 4 figures.

Serious enquiries only, for more information and videos pm me or call 07511831757.
