Buccy (Buccaneer) was pride of place at the Garthfach stud until 2025 as their stud stallion. In October 2025 he was brought off the farm, gelded and started his new career under saddle and showing. He has been broken slowly and correctly and not rushed. He started the season seeing the world in hand with great success gaining Champion at Kenilworth Show, Shropshire County, NCPA Staffs and winning a huge In hand Gelding class at Cheshire County. Amazing for a middle aged lady that really can't run at Cob pace anymore! However, Buccy is an absolute gent and really athletic showing off his paces at a sensible speed!

A busy season for us as my son takes precedent with his eventing, it is difficult to fit enough in but he did a little dressage. A last minute decision due to the hard ground, we headed off to Equifest as it was on a surface to see what Buccy thought of jumping! With little to no preparation, he was incredible and loved it jumping everything that was asked.

We feel that Buccy could head in various directions now. He is an incredibly sweet and kind cob. He is straight forward to ride but of course he is still a Novice so still has things to learn. I would love to see him doing a bit of everything ideally as he is so talented over a fence and loves it although of course he is gorgeous enough for the flat classes too.

Very loved superstar all rounder, Ted, is looking for his next best friend!

Ted is a stunning chestnut Welsh D gelding with an extensive CV as a top quality young rider’s all rounder, and all the qualities to be the ultimate best friend. He has done just about everything, from galloping across open fields with the hounds, to being ridden bareback in a head collar. Most importantly, he’s been his current jockey’s utter soulmate for the past 3 years.

Ted’s superstar CV:

⭐️ All Pony Club activities

⭐️ Multiple seasons hunting

⭐️ Quick show jumping up to 80cm

⭐️ Successful showing - a true eye catcher!

⭐️ Completed hunter trials

⭐️ Great to hack in company

⭐️ Ridden easily bareback and in a head collar

⭐️ Beach rides, fancy dress and just about all other kid-related fun you can think of!

⭐️ Good to do for farrier, dentist, clipping, travelling, etc.

Ted is the sort hard to come by, however, as most Welsh ponies do, he does have a few quirks that make him more suitable as a 2nd pony.

Ted’s quirks:

🌀 Can be bolshy - typical Welsh! This is nothing unmanageable, his current 14yo jockey and both mum/dad can handle him no problem. However, this does mean he requires a capable handler and confident rider when out and about.

🌀 Reluctant to hack out alone. This can be resolved with a stern word, persistence and ultimately consistency. He is capable of hacking out alone absolutely fine, but when out of practice can be stubborn and nappy. On the flip side, he is fabulous and easy as anything in company.

🌀 Requires some field/diet management. Ted is sensitive to certain plants and foliage, and so needs his field to be free from these to keep him happy and healthy. This is very manageable - more information will be provided on this upon enquiry.

As already made clear, Ted’s sort is hard to come by, and even harder to say goodbye to. He is only for sale due to his current jockey outgrowing him and the family simply not having the facilities to keep him alongside the next horse. His rider, and the whole family, is heartbroken to be looking for a new person for him - 5* home is of utmost importance.

Serious enquiries only - this is not an easy sale for the family. Open to offers to see him in the perfect home. Loads of photos and videos available upon request. If interested, please contact Sarah Hindle (instructor) on 07930 428034. We are happy to answer any questions, we just want to find the perfect person for our Ted.

  • Llanwnen Mystery
  • Lot No 117 at McCartneys Welsh Pony and Cob sale 17/10/2026

Mystery was our pick from the dispersal sale of Welsh Cobs from the late Eirian Thomas’s renowned Llanwnnen Stud, purchased at Llanybydder Mart. His connection to Eirian and the Llanwnnen legacy makes him especially meaningful to us. We feel privileged to have him and are committed to giving him the very best care, education and opportunities. Above all, we hope to fulfil Eirian’s vision and honour the enduring legacy of Llanwnen Stud.

Since coming to us, Mystery has been brought on slowly and correctly, progressing from basic handling to now riding away confidently. He has attended a show, where he won his class and went on to take Champion, as well as gaining valuable experience through arena hires and cross-country schooling.

Mystery was broken to ride in spring 2026 before being turned away for the summer to mature. He has now been back in work for the past two months and is continuing to progress well. He is happy to hack alone or in company and has also seen traffic, proving himself sensible, genuine and willing in everything that has been asked of him.

Mystery has lovely, balanced paces and correct, eye-catching conformation, giving him all the attributes to excel in the show ring. His presence, movement and attitude make him an exciting prospect for someone looking to produce a quality Welsh Cob for the future.

Although Mystery is incredibly genuine and willing, we would not consider him suitable for a novice at this stage. We feel he would be best suited to a confident, sympathetic rider who can continue his education and help him develop his confidence and experience. He has a lovely attitude to his work and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.

Danaway Coalition 9yo Welsh D gelding approx. 14.1hh by Trevallion Black Harry.

Con is looking for a new home due to personal circumstances. I have owned him since a 3yo so full history is known. My friend has been riding him for the past 6 months to keep him ticking over and we’ve now made the difficult decision to find him a new home.

Con has been successful in dressage, including qualifying for MyQuest Nationals first attempt and placing 3rd at BD champs. He has been to multiple stay away shows.

He can get bored with repetitive flatwork so would suit a varied, fun home. He absolutely loves jumping and has plenty of potential to excel in this area. He is genuine out hacking and will happily go alone or in company, even on the busiest of roads.

Con can be strong on ground so he is NOT suitable for a novice or child and needs a confident, experienced rider and handler.

This is a very difficult decision and finding the right home is our priority. We are in no rush and will happily wait for the perfect match for him.

Based near Bristol.

Serious enquiries only please.

Safe & Lovely Happy Hacker – Fantastic in Traffic, Enjoys Hacking & Low-Level Schooling

  • Safe and sensible to hack alone or in company
  • Genuine happy hacker who loves a quiet, steady ride

A lovely, sweet-natured mare who is best suited to someone looking for a genuine, enjoyable happy hacker.

She is a pleasure to hack and is excellent in traffic, taking everything in her stride and proving safe and sensible out and about. She is equally happy hacking alone or with company and enjoys a quiet, steady pace.

She will walk, trot and canter in the arena, although she is much more of a laid-back, steady type and doesn’t have a huge amount of enthusiasm for schooling. She would therefore suit someone looking for a reliable hacking companion rather than a competition or schooling prospect.

She is a lovely character with a kind nature and is good to have around the yard. She is easy to handle and enjoys attention, making her a nice horse to spend time with.

She does need to be tied up for the vet and farrier, as if held rather than tied she can pull away, so this is something a prospective home would need to be comfortable with.

A genuine, uncomplicated mare who would make a lovely addition to the right home and is ready to be enjoyed for what she does best — happy, safe hacking.

Sparky is a true competition pony. My mum bought her as a 3-year-old, and I have broken and produced her myself from the ground up.

She has competed at BS at 85/90cm and always comes home with prize money. In just 5 outings she has won £181. In particular coming 2nd out of 63 starters at Hickstead in the British Novice.

She has also had a go at eventing at a Riding Club ODE, where she was double clear at her first outing.

She absolutely loves her job and it happiest when out competing

She is a brave, careful and competitive mare who really wants to do the job. She has plenty of scope and is the sort of pony that thrives on having a job and going out competing.

She's a proper pocket rocket when she gets in the ring. A genuine little competition machine who always gives her best.

Away from the competition environment, Sparky has a very sweet and affectionate temperament, although she can be pushy/bargy on the ground, so she is not suitable for an inexperienced home.

She can be distracted in the warm up but always gets in the zone as soon as she enters the ring.

She has previously been nervous of traffic, but has come a long way and is now capable of hacking alone with an experienced rider. She is happiest with a rider who is confident enough to think ahead and, where necessary, use driveways to pull into and give her a little space when she needs it.

She would ideally suit a competent, confident teenager or small adult who wants a genuine competition partner and is looking to progress.

Competition home only — absolutely no happy hackers. I am looking for someone who wants to get out there, compete and make the most of a very talented little mare.
This is a very special pony who has been so much fun to produce, and finding the right home for her is extremely important to me.

Quality 5-Year-Old Welsh Section D Mare – Approx 15hh

Rosie is a beautiful mare bred in the purple, by Cascob Brynmor out of Delga Maggie may (Pennal, trevallion and Cascob running right through her pedigree)

She has plenty of quality and presence, and I genuinely believe she has bags of potential for someone with the experience and time to bring it out of her.

She is lightly backed and very low mileage. Rosie has had tack on and been sat on approximately 5–6 times over the last 12 months. She is still as green as grass and is very much a project.

Unfortunately, due to lack of time, she is currently standing in the field doing very little, which is a real waste of a lovely young mare. She deserves a home where she can be brought on correctly and given the opportunity to reach her potential.

I purchased Rosie as a very poor rising 4-year-old project, unknowingly in foal. She surprised us with a foal just six weeks later and proved to be an absolutely fantastic mum, so my main focus has been letting her mature and getting some condition on her.

Given her breeding and proven as a good mum, she could equally make a lovely broodmare.

The photos/video were taken a few weeks ago, brought straight in from the field with nothing more than a quick brush.

Rosie is not being sold as a finished or established ridden horse and will require an experienced home to continue her education.

A quality young mare with her whole future ahead of her — far too nice to be standing in a field going to waste.

Name: Marnie

Breed: Welsh Section D from Nebo lineage

Gender: Mare

Location: Larkhall, Scotland

About Marnie:

Marnie is a truly special, sweet-natured mare who is clever, switched on, and always eager to please. She is the definition of an easy pony to have around the yard—so much so that she essentially catches herself in the field! She has zero vices, is completely unfazed by dogs, and is an absolute angel on the ground. She is not "mareish" in the slightest and never has a grumpy day.

Under saddle, Marnie is incredibly genuine. She is green in the school but proving herself beautifully as her education continues. She has excellent brakes and steering, listens intently to her rider, and completely respects your aids. She hacks out perfectly both alone and in company. One of her best traits is her exceptional level-headedness: she can be left for a day or three weeks and will come out the exact same horse.

She is absolutely not a project; she simply needs the consistent work and education that I currently do not have the time to give her

Perfect to load and travel (trailer or lorry).

Excellent to bath and clip.

Happy to live in or out, and settles perfectly in a mixed herd.

Barefoot and 100% sound.

Fully up to date with teeth, vaccinations, and worming.

The Ideal Home:

This is a reluctant sale purely due to a lack of time. Marnie is looking for a 5-star home with someone who wants to develop, grow, and enjoy a wonderful, long-term partnership with her.

Included:

Marnie comes complete with her tack and a couple of rugs to ensure a smooth transition to her new home.

Please reach out to arrange a viewing, request videos, or ask any questions. No time-wasters, please—this special mare deserves the Very best

Sad sale due to ill health. Was sent away last year for professional schooling for several months and had lots of experiences whilst there. He went to the beach, pony club and an arena. He learned to jump and was doing really well there. He is green and needs work, hence the price. He needs an experienced home with someone who has the time to bring him on, he has so much potential, he is wasted here.

Will go far in the right hands. Stunning movement would do well in the show ring. Has travelled in a horsebox and and trailer. Bare foot, used to having feet trimmed by farrier. Easy to catch. Can be out 24/7 or in stable part time, used to both. Available for viewing most days. Based North Wales near Caernarfon.

LOUIS – 148cm Welsh Section D Gelding

Louis is a fun, genuine and experienced 148cm with an impressive range of experience.

Louis has been fantastic for my eldest daughter but due to moving on to horses louis had a busy summer competing at both Nationals and Trailblazer Championships with my 8-year-old daughter, taking several top 6 placings. This is a testament to him proving his versatility.

Louis is also a fabulous hunting pony. Super respectful out on the field , jumps anything , happy to lead and stands when asked. Not phased by herds or the hounds.

As well as the above Louis loves to team

chase. He stays in line, consistent and has picked up top ten placings.

Louie has pony club experience and enjoys various Pony club activities.

He is great out hacking with traffic, cattle, bikes, farm machinery etc .

Good to catch, shoe, clip, load and vice free. Up to date with all vaccinations.

Louis is a super character and has a budding personality.

Louis is a versatile all-rounder who has been successfully ridden by younger riders and is equally enjoyable for an older rider.

Willowcourt Comet - Stunning 5yr old owned since a foal and carefully produced and handled from birth. Full history known

A very talented boy who has just started to further his education with jumping training. He is a HOYS potential worker and I don’t say that lightly. Jumping is new to him due to other commitments and the hot summer.

Hacks alone and in company over motorway bridges and through open fields. Broken at 4 and very gently produced to start with as he was still growing so is low mileage. Probably still has some height in him but is filling out well now.

Schooling well and attended his first show recently and was impeccably behaved. Visited a few other venues and isn’t bothered about a new place goes very well away from home.

I’m being told to keep him as he will go far but can’t keep them all but will only go to the right person to carry on his education. He is a baby and a novice pony so will have a green moment so no novice owners and riders.

In the right hands he will go far. Flatter action and lovely uphill canter so would also do well in dressage. Lots of videos and photos available so please feel free to call for a chat. Comes with tack rug and delivery within reason.

A lovely, genuine horse with a fantastic attitude and a bright future ahead of him.

Draco has Showjumped, Competed in Working Hunter Pony classes, Arena Evented, XC schooled and also competed successfully in flat HOYS Welsh D classes, where he has held his own. Draco also went out with the bloodhounds with a young novice rider and proved to be extremely well mannered, bold and a real confidence giver.

He is a lovely horse who is so easy to do very straightforward, willing and a real pleasure to have around. He has a kind, sensible nature and is easy enough for a junior or amateur rider or good enough for a professional to potentially compete in HOYS and RI exc.143 workers or as a flat horse, making him a very versatile prospect for someone wanting a horse they can enjoy and progress with.

Draco has a great attitude to his work and competition and is ready for someone to continue his education and have lots of fun with him.

A really special little horse who would suit someone looking for a genuine, competitive and easy going partner. I have never known a horse to love his ridden job as much as him and will give absolutely anything a go, there is not one thing you could fault about this little horse. A very sad sale due to change in circumstances.

Beautiful 14.1hh Welsh Sec D Mare

Breed: Welsh Section D

Age: 7 years old

Height: 14.1hh

Color: Black with striking white blaze & single white sock

Location: South Yorkshire

Ali is a very loving mare who oozes potential. My youngest daughter has safely ridden and hacked her since age 8, and my older daughter—who can be a nervous rider—rides her out with ease. She has done hacking, arena hires, low-level jumping, and pleasure rides, proving to be a kind, reliable, and fun pony.

She is a sweet, honest, and loving mare who adores people, treats, and endless bum scratches. She has zero malice—she does not buck, rear, or bolt. With beautiful, floaty paces and excellent natural scope over a fence, she has real potential to perform well in dressage, showing, or jumping with the right rider.

She would also make a dream riding school pony, as she thrives in group environments, loves people, and would excel with a predictable routine.

The Highlights:

Jumping Potential: Shows fantastic technique and plenty of natural scope over a fence. When confident, she is a point-and-go ride who handles the rest.

Hacking: Fantastic in company, preferring to follow but can and does pop in front to build confidence. Handles heavy traffic (tractors, bin lorries, motorbikes, barking dogs) with ease. Hacks alone quietly, though may need a lead past something new.

Fun & Forward: Calm and chilled when riding at home or on arena hires, but brings a fun, forward, and eager energy to hunting and pleasure rides—jumping everything in front of her, including hedges, ditches, and drains.

Easy Keeper & Great Manners: Barefoot, easy to catch, and straightforward to load. Great for the farrier and can live in or out.

Top-Tier Care: 100% up to date with farrier, teeth, physio, and vaccinations. No lumps, bumps, or sarcoids. Clean limbs and excellent overall health. She is a solid, healthy mare who I am confident would pass any vetting.

Honest Notes & Competition Profile (Full Transparency):

Competition Environment: While calm and confident at home or during arena hires (with or without friends), she currently loses confidence in busy, away-from-home competition settings. Her lack of confidence presents as stress—she can sweat up and at times become reluctant to move forward, requiring a lead or reassuring rider to keep going. With time, patience, and exposure, we believe she will overcome this. For showjumping, she would suit an experienced rider looking for a project to develop further.

Clipping: Requires sedation to be clipped safely and stress-free.

Yard Routine (FOMO): Loves her herd! Fine being stabled or led in alone, but prefers not to be the last pony left behind in the yard when others head out (she will pace her stable and neigh if left behind).

Ulcer History: Had a brief spell of mild, saddle-related ulcers in the past due to changing shape as she filled out. Fully treated, resolved, and maintained with regular professional saddle checks. Full medical history is available.

Reason for Sale: My younger daughter wants to compete, and has moved onto an older, more experienced pony.

Full vetting is welcomed.

14.2hh bay Welsh D mare 5 yrs ( reg name is Rhonas Spring Song) by Brynithon The Ambassador

Fun little mare who will go on to be a great all rounder, or poss a dressage pony. She’s had a good basic education and is riding on well. She’s a lovely type that was bought as youngster by a showing home but hasn’t made quite what they wanted for the show ring hence sale. Rosie is a lovely mover and very flashy, she is the type that thrives on work, the more the better! She has an active brain and just loves to do a job, she’s trainable and willing. She hasn’t done loads of jumping but is happy popping round a small course of coloured fences here with plenty of scope to go on, she’s very brave with coloured poles, fillers etc. She is still on the green side of life and would best suit a small adult or competent teen to continue bringing her on and have a lot of fun along the way. She takes up the leg well (rider in photos 5”10) She will go on to do everything!

Rosie loves her hacking and will hack happily both alone and in company and has been good in all traffic met to date, she’s very genuine. She has extensively hacked round the South Downs and is used to busy hacking routes with tourists, dogs, bikes etc.

She’s easy to handle, catch, box, feet trim, good with the clippers and is a friendly character.

Seen at livery.

Millie is a very pretty, dun, registered Welsh D who has to be one of the most reliable and genuine souls in the yard. Having owned her before, we know Millie very well, and everyone who knows her speaks incredibly highly of her. ❤️

She is a wise, educated pony with a fantastic list of talents, including:

🐄 Cattle herding – yes, real cows, Western-style neck reining!
🏇 Pony Club
🌳 Cross country
🏇 Show jumping
🌿 Hacking alone
🐴 Hacking in company
🏆 Hunting previously

Millie has a phenomenal jump — neat, careful and very talented. She is easy to ride but forward-going, as you would expect from a Welsh D, so she is not a novice ride. She would suit a confident, competent child coming off their first pony, a mother-and-daughter combination, or someone looking for a fun, versatile second pony.

She really is the sort of pony you can have loads of fun with and keep progressing with. ❤️

Millie is barefoot and lives out. She is good to box, travels well and is good to catch.

She did develop some sweet itch this year, which she hadn’t suffered from previously. We are currently in a particularly fly-ridden area and the weather hasn’t helped, so this is something to be aware of. It is easily managed with a suitable rug.

She also passed a 5-stage vetting last year.

Millie is a truly lovely pony who deserves a fantastic home where she can be enjoyed and appreciated. She has so much to offer and is one of those ponies that really leaves a mark on your heart. 🥰
